Glen Johnson has revealed in an interview that he has been speaking to foreign clubs about the possibility of arranging a transfer, ahead of his Liverpool contract expiring in the summer. The 30 year old has been at Liverpool since 2009 however his £120,000 per week wages make it unlikely that FSG will offer him a new deal, as the defender confirmed there have been no fresh talks about a new contract.

"There's no update," said Johnson. "There have been no talks. At this point I have no idea [where he will play next season]. I haven't thought about it. I've got two months left here and we will see what happens after that. I'm just going to keep my head down and keep training."

The England international has been linked with a move abroad, to clubs such as Roma and Galatasaray. He is a fluent Spanish speaker, and has been available to discuss terms with a foreign club since December 31st. When asked about moving abroad, Johnson replied, "I do like the idea of going abroad. There have been talks. I'm still young and it would be great for the kids. But I'm not thinking about that at the moment. We will have to wait and see."

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers did speak in January about how he wanted to keep the defender, who has made 192 appearances for Liverpool, in January. However it does seem that he will be leaving in the summer, after a season which has seen him move down the pecking order in the side due to injuries and new arrivals.
