Liverpool midfielder Raheem Sterling won't be fined for a leaked video of him smoking a shisha pipe was found on the internet, as Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre said that the player will be at the club for many years.

Photos emerged of Sterling inhaling Nitrus Oxide, street name: happy gas/laughing gas, last Sunday with a video following the next day. Despite the embarrassment caused to the club, it is thought that Sterling won't be punished after manager Brendan Rodgers reminds him of his duties as a professional in a meeting on Thursday.

It is the latest in a series of PR disasters for Sterling, as they youngster publicly rejected a new Liverpool contract, delaying talks until the end of the season, before giving an unsanctioned interview to the BBC and being booed in Liverpool's loss to Manchester United. Despite these happenings, Ian Ayre has ensured Liverpool fans that their star youngster won't be leaving anytime soon.

“Raheem’s agent has asked that we park all discussions regards his future until the summer,” said Ayre. “We respect that.

“Raheem is a Liverpool player and has over two years left on his contract. We expect Raheem Sterling to be here for a long time.”

Sterling did improve things on the pitch against Newcastle United on Monday night, scoring the opening goal in a 2-0 victory, his 13th goal in all competitions this season.
