Charlie Malam: Saturday's performance, and result, was frustrating to say the least. It wasn't the first goalless draw of the season, and a lack of goals is the main issue for the Reds at the minute, which is fairly clear for all to see.

But with a trip to a Hull City side very much in the midst of a relegation battle may not do much to ease the Wembley hangover. Steve Bruce's side defended well at Anfield earlier in the season, stifling much of our creativity - a jaw-dropping Philippe Coutinho solo dribble late on.

But whilst Saturday's performance echoed that of a side which had conceded defeat in the top-four race, Manchester United's loss at Everton means the Reds can close the gap to four points on Tuesday night - something they should certainly be looking to do.

For that reason, I'd set up the team to go and attack Hull. They'll be looking for the points themselves, not sitting back - so I'd perhaps concentrate on gaining a strong foothold and countering, making the most of a wing-back system to do so.

For that reason, I'd switch back to the three-man defence, but have two up top - something we've not yet done. Mario Balotelli hardly set the world alight against West Brom, but he's not been given enough opportunities alongside a strike partner.

When he's had a teammate alongside him, he has generally looked a significantly bigger threat in a red shirt, and so I'd play him up top with Raheem Sterling. The 20-year-old can drop off the Italian slightly, providing movement, pressing and direct pace - whilst Balotelli can add some much-needed muscle against a burly Hull defence.

Behind the two, Philippe Coutinho starts in the attacking midfield role despite the return of Adam Lallana - for reasons that don't need much explanation. The Brazilian, when in tune, is the conductor to our attacking orchestra and has to start.

In the centre of midfield, given Steven Gerrard's recent poor performances and Lucas Leiva's injury - Joe Allen returns to partner captain Jordan Henderson, whilst they are flanked by an attacking wing-back outlook of Jordon Ibe on the left and Lazar Markovic on the right.

These two provide further pace and creativity and can help counter, and pin back, the wing-backs that Steve Bruce will likely opt to use in a 3-5-2 formation. Preventing Ahmed Elmohamady and Robbie Brady from bombing on and putting crosses into the box could be crucial if Brendan Rodgers' side are to bridge the gap between themselves and United.

That brings me to the back three. The same who started at West Brom, given Mamadou Sakho's injury. Emre Can on the right, Martin Skrtel in the middle and Dejan Lovren - who impressed against the Albion - on the left.

Kolo Toure and Glen Johnson are further options, but both look extremely unlikely to continue their careers at Anfield past this summer whilst all the selected three can expect to be around in six months time - and so it probably makes more sense to pick those three. To complete the XI, Simon Mignolet keeps his place between the sticks.

Charlie's team (3-4-1-2): Mignolet, Can, Skrtel, Lovren, Markovic, Henderson, Allen, Ibe, Coutinho, Sterling, Balotelli.

Ollie Emmerson: Liverpool, quite frankly, needs goals against relegation threatened Hull City and lots of them. Despite an upturn in form after the new year, the Reds have still only managed 31 goals in 2015 and this needs addressing.

With this in mind, I've gone for a very attacking team. Simon Mignolet continues in goal and Mamadou Sakho's injury means that Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren will continue the partnership that recorded a clean sheet against West Brom, in central defence. Javier Manquillo is my choice at right back, as I firmly believe that the Spaniard deserves another crack of the whip before the summer, and Alberto Moreno's likely absence makes me place Glen Johnson at left back, due to a lack of alternatives.

The midfield is where it gets interesting, as I go for a diamond formation. Emre Can deserves a chance further up the pitch, and I would have him as the holding player in my diamond. With Jordan Henderson and Philippe Coutinho ahead of him, he would have the legs around him to cover in the instance of Can marauding forward. In attacking midfield I would pick Lazar Markovic, to finally give the talented Serb a game in what many believe to be his best position, with Raheem Sterling and Mario Balotelli ahead of him as the front two.

Ollie's team (4-1-2-1-2): Mignolet, Manquillo, Skrtel, Lovren, Johnson, Can, Henderson, Coutinho, Markovic, Sterling, Balotelli.

Calum Paton: Once again Liverpool are going into their next game on the back of a disappointing set back, and once again changes are going to be required. Liverpool defended pretty well away to West Brom on Saturday but once again struggled to create enough goal scoring chances to go on and get the win. Brendan Rodgers will once again have to re-shuffle the pack to try and find the right solution.

Mario Balotelli started at the Hawthorns and its fair to say that it never worked. The Italian was rarely found in dangerous positions and struggled to offer any real support for the midfielders and wingers playing around him. The 4-3-3 shape may well have been the cause for the striker often being stranded or lost up there on his own. A return to the 3-4-2-1 would allow the two players in the 'pockets' to get much closer to the central forward, whoever that should be. Balotelli never worked last week, and it is hard to see Rodgers giving him another chance, so Raheem Sterling will most likely take his place up, with Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho playing behind them.

Steven Gerrard was near anonymous once again on Saturday. The Liverpool skipper simply doesn't offer Liverpool enough any more to merit a starting spot. His inability to fit into the pressing style that Rodgers has tried to adopt over his three years at the club leave The Reds basically a man short without the ball. Joe Allen was dropped for the West Brom game, and the rest could do him some good, so now coming back with a point to prove, he should be starting once again alongside the ever-present Jordan Henderson. In the wing-back areas, Jordon Ibe is a shoe-in to take a starting role. The teenager has been one of few positives in this campaign and has looked especially impressive when playing in this new position. If he takes the place on the right hand side, then that leaves Rodgers with Glen Johnson as his only real choice on the left. Alberto Moreno is expected to miss this trip to the KC Stadium through injury, and Jose Enrique is very clearly not a part of the manager's plans, so the Johnson will have to do in this unorthodox role.

The three centre backs and goalkeeper then really pick themselves. With arguably Liverpool's strongest centre back, Mamadou Sakho, still injured, and Kolo Toure very much out of favour at the moment, it's hard to see past Emre Can, Dejan Lovren and Martin Skrtel as Liverpool's starting trio. Can has been solid for the most part of the season, as has Skrtel, however Lovren has at times looked suspect. The £20 million summer signing did show his qualities on Saturday though, with a top quality performance at the back.

Calum's Team (3-4-2-1): Mignolet; Can, Skrtel, Lovren; Ibe, Henderson, Allen, Johnson; Lallana, Coutinho; Sterling.
