Liverpool are believed to have revoked their recent contract offer to back-up goalkeeper Brad Jones, leaving the experienced stopper furious, according to the Daily Mail's Neil Ashton.

Jones, who has not featured since picking up an injury against Burnley on Boxing Day, is out of contract this summer and though it looked unlikely that his Anfield stay would be extended - the Reds offered him a new deal recently.

However the Aussie, who has served the Reds as understudy for five years, is understood to have had the offer rescinded after an apparent change in thinking - meaning he will become a free agent in the summer.

Jones, who has been praised for his loyalty by Brendan Rodgers before, has made only 25 appearances at the club in his long stay - but is understood to be left incredibly angry by the club's gesture.

The 33-year-old had been handed a first-team chance earlier this season after first-choice Simon Mignolet's poor form - but his sustained run was halted by an injury picked up at Burnley, whilst the Belgian no.1 has since found some fantastic form.

Rodgers recently admitted: "There have been discussions (over Jones' contract.) Obviously, Brad is in his last year but nothing has been resolved on that."

The news comes after yet more links with Fiorentina 'keeper Norberto Neto, who Rodgers has had a long-standing interest in. The 25-year-old also becomes a free agent this summer.
