Charlie Malam: I think all Liverpool fans hoped that this last game of the campaign would mean a little more than securing a place in next season's Europa League, a competition most of us would rather be without.

But here it is - the final game of a long and testing season, and it's not going to get much easier against a Stoke City side on home turf.

Perhaps the main story of the day, from a visitors' perspective, is the fact that Sunday acts as Steven Gerrard's final ever game as a player for Liverpool.

But with the 34-year-old having said his goodbyes to Anfield last week, and the fact that Gerrard is also alleged to have cancelled executive boxes booked for his family members - mean the skipper may play little part, or even no part, at the Britannia.

Elsewhere, the other main story is Raheem Sterling and his decision to reject a new contract at the club - but Rodgers has already confirmed the 20-year-old will feature unless he picks up a knock before the game.

I, myself, would still start him. The fact is - regardless of his future - Sterling remains one of the Reds' best attacking outlets, and at current is probably the best man to lead Liverpool's front-line.

It's a risky move, but Rickie Lambert did not do too much to inspire in his recent cameos, whilst Jerome Sinclair might not be ready for a start just yet. Fabio Borini has been away from the first-team for some time and Mario Balotelli's absence looks set to continue, so there's really not too many options for Rodgers in the striking department.

Sterling's supporting cast, for me, would be Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana. The trio have linked up well on previous occasions and whilst leaving Jordon Ibe out seems questionable, Lallana's form is enough to see him edge into my starting line-up, whilst the Brazilian is virtually undroppable at current.

Behind them - I'd actually start Steven Gerrard. Last weekend's farewell, though it ended as a loss, would be a great way to go out - but there will not be many like the 34-year-old skipper ever again, and he should be given one more chance to see if he can add another chapter to a fairytale story.

To combat Gerrard's lack of legs in the middle, the energetic duo of Emre Can and Jordan Henderson. The German midfielder has been the most successful of last summer's recruits, but has yet to really enjoy a sustained stint in the centre of midfield - his preferred option, but against a team who are well capable of having their say in the centre of the park, the presence of Can - in addition to Henderson's usual combustuous engine - could be a big factor in deciding who wins.

Behind them, a back-four. Glen Johnson has not always been a favourite on Merseyside, but since his £18 million switch - it's fair to say that he has been a good servant for the club - playing exactly 200 appearances and scoring nine goals since 2009. And whilst Javier Manquillo's place in the first-team is an issue that should be addressed, Johnson arguably deserves a send-off before he leaves as a free agent in the summer.

Meanwhilst, out on the left, Alberto Moreno will be required to work hard defensively - but the fact remains that he is the club's best-equipped left-back, with Jose Enrique looking likely to leave Anfield sooner rather than later and Jon Flanagan out until 2016. There is the option to switch Johnson to the left and bring on Manquillo, though the Spaniard's spell away from the first-team hints at a possible contract clause, or something worrying on the training ground.

In the centre of defence, Mamadou Sakho's return would bring some much-needed solidity after the disastrous performance from Dejan Lovren last weekend. The Frenchman is likely to be fit, but should anything happen in the meantime, Kolo Toure has to come in for what could also be his last Liverpool game - as the Reds' prepare for a mini-overhaul. Behind them, Simon Mignolet completes the set-up in goal as the Reds look to end a dismal campaign on a high.

Charlie's team (4-3-2-1): Mignolet, Johnson, Skrtel, Sakho, Moreno, Gerrard, Henderson, Can, Coutinho, Lallana, Sterling.

Calum Paton: Liverpool fans obviously would've hoped that in this final game of the season, the team would have a bit more to play for. As The Reds go to Stoke for their final match of a disappointing season, they still require a victory to secure fifth spot in the league.

Brendan Rodgers gave Steven Gerrard, and possibly a few others, their Anfield farewells last week, so Sunday should now be the time for the Liverpool boss to look into the future.

The back four that played against Crystal Palace at Anfield last week performed very poorly so will definitely change. Javier Manquillo has expressed his long term desires at Liverpool during the week and has been rather unfairly left out for a long time now. The young full back deserves another chance to prove himself before the summer.

Mamadou Sakho has returned to training and should hopefully be ready to play again. His partnership with Martin Skrtel has improved this season, so the two of them should pair up in the middle of the defence.

At left back it is obvious that playing a soon-departing Glen Johnson is not the best option. Alberto Moreno has had a patchy first season but has shows some signs of real quality this campaign.

The formation I would like to see Liverpool adopt this Sunday is a 4-3-3. In the middle of the park, Emre Can has had few chances to prove himself having been used as a defender for the majority of the last six months. The German would be perfect to hold the midfield whilst Jordan Henderson and Philippe Coutinho do their usual jobs in front of him.

There will undoubtedly be a lot of talk about Raheem Sterling this week because of his reported reluctance to sign a new contract with the club. I would like to see Sterling play at Stoke and have him show the Liverpool fans why he has made such demands.

Sterling can lead the line up top as he did previously when Liverpool used the 3-4-3. Either side of Raheem I would like to see two young wingers in Jordon Ibe and Lazar Markovic run the flanks and also make a statement about why they should make a mark on the first team next season.

Calum's team (4-3-3): Mignolet; Manquillo, Skrtel, Sakho, Moreno; Can, Henderson, Coutinho; Markovic, Sterling, Ibe.

Ollie Emmerson: Well, this is it, the nightmare of 2014/15 is ending for Liverpool. And the way it end's on what will likely be a cold afternoon the Britannia Stadium.

Either way, Liverpool will be looking to end the season with a win, perhaps to keep Brendan Rodgers in a job. To do this, they need to play positive football and attack stoke, hence my attacking line up.

Simon Mignolet will be searching for a clean sheet to boost his chance of winning the Barclays Premier League Golden Glove, so he stays in goal.

At right back, I'd plump for Glen Johnson as the Englishman is set for his final Liverpool appearance. In normal circumstances I would want to see Javier Manquillo a chance, but I think it's right to start Johnson, capping off his time at the club.

With Mamadou Sakho still out injured the centre back choices are slim, but I'd go for Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren, giving them a chance to make up for their awful performances at home to Crystal Palace last week. Alberto Moreno completes my back four.

Moving into midfield, I would play a trio of Lucas Leiva, Jordan Henderson and Emre Can. It's what I believe to be Liverpool's best option at the moment, offering a great balance of attacking and defensive qualities.

The subject of whether to start Steven Gerrard is an interesting one, he'll be keen to leave on a better mark than he did last week. However Liverpool need to use this game to look towards the future, and a 30 minute cameo at the end would probably be better suited to the skipper.

As you've probably guessed, I'm going for a 4-3-3. Selecting Philippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling either side of Jerome Sinclair. Coutinho is the obvious choice, this week awarded Liverpool's Player of the Season award. Rodgers could bench Sterling as a sign of strength given his and his agents actions in the media this week, but Liverpool are going to look stronger if they play him. It back's up their message of 'He's our player, we do what we like.'

I'd go with Sinclair as the lone striker as I honestly believe the youngster will offer more than Fabio Borini, Rickie Lambert or Mario Balotelli. The young speedster has played a bit part role in the last two games, and deserves a full game in the Potteries.

Ollie's team (4-3-3): Mignolet, Johnson, Skrtel, Lovren, Moreno, Lucas, Henderson, Can, Coutinho, Sterling, Sinclair.

Mosope Ominiyi: I think it's imperative that Javier Manquillo starts, or plays some part at least, in Sunday's fixture atStoke. Not only because he's barely featured at all in 2015, but for a promising young player who needs game time to prove himself at a club full to the brim with expectations, he needs his opportunity. Obviously, playing against a physical side such as Stoke, might not seem like such a good proposition upon first viewing. With that being said, he poses an attacking threat that has yet to be tapped into, as he's been reverted into playing as a wing-back that predominately been defending. If he does start or play against Stoke, he'll have new-found confidence going into the summer, where he'll see a lot of changes at the club and will be hoping that he can stay permanently.

A word on Glen Johnson, who looks set to leave the club this summer when his contract expires. More of a back-up player than anything else over the past two years, his form has been inconsistent and his lack of defensive strength have caused criticism from his actual supporters. I think although he is not perhaps the player he used to be, he deserves a great reception from the Liverpool fans if he does feature against Stoke.

I'd opt for a three in midfield to try and combat any threat that the physicality of the Stoke team warrants in truth. Gerrard will most probably start on what will be his final appearance for Liverpool, and he'll be hoping for a win too. Can should partner him alongside vice-captain Henderson, which is the two players I'd have in a 4-3-1-2 formation next season onwards.

Mosope's team (4-3-1-2): Mignolet, Manquillo, Skrtel, Lovren, Moreno, Gerrard, Henderson, Can, Coutinho, Sterling, Ibe.
