Andre Wisdom has admitted his eagerness to kick on at Liverpool upon signing a new long-term contract with the club.

Wisdom has made 22 first-team appearances for the Reds so far, having featured heavily through the years at Academy before breaking into the side under Brendan Rodgers in 2012.

The 22-year-old has since spent the last two years on loan at Derby County and then West Bromwich Albion, but after penning a new deal that keeps him at the club until 2019 - the youngster is determined to pin down a permanent place in Rodgers' first-team.

"Committing my long-term future to Liverpool was an easy decision to make," he said.

"The club are in my heart and I can't wait to get going again here. I'm already looking forward to pre-season training and linking back up with all the lads.

"I definitely picked up some good experience at West Brom and I am grateful to them for the opportunity they gave me and the faith they showed in me.

"But now I'm looking forward to challenging for a place back here at Liverpool.

"This is one of the world's biggest football clubs and it's an honour to be a part of it.

"It's fantastic news for me and my family for me to have signed a new contract here and now I want to work hard and try to compete for places again."
