Danny Ings and James Milner will be expected to make their non-competetive debuts for Liverpool over the coming month, as the club announced that the pair of new signings would join them for their tour of Australasia.

Pre season

The tour signals the start of Liverpool's pre season, and they will play four games on the continent, against Thailand All Stars, Brisbane Roar, Adelaide United and Malaysia All Stars.

Upon returning to Europe, they'll conclude their warm up with an away game against HJK Helsinki on August 1st, before the season begins on August 8th.

Liverpool will be hoping to get off to a flyer when they meet Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium, as they seek to improve on last season, where they finished 6th.

It's possible that new signing Nathaniel Clyne will join them on the tour, whilst Brazilian Roberto Firmino is expected to be given a period of rest due to his Copa America commitments. He made a £29 million move from Hoffenheim last week.

Where will Milner play?

Fans will be eagerly anticipating their first chance to see James Milner in action, after the midfielder signed on a free transfer from Manchester City last month.

It will be interesting to see where manager Brendan Rodgers plays Milner, with rumours suggesting that a big part of convincing him to sign was down to promises of him being played in a central role, rather than the wing position he took up at City.

However, with it still being pre-season, it is possible that Milner could fill a number of different roles, as Rodgers looks to find a system that will work for Liverpool this year.

Ings seeking instant impact

The tour will give Danny Ings his first chance to impress, following his move from Burnley.

As it stands, Ings is arguably Liverpool's frontline striker, with Daniel Sturridge injured, and Rickie Lambert, Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini all available for sale.

Despite this, Liverpool are pursuing a move for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke, and Sturridge will be fit again come October. This means that Ings needs to hit the ground running, and he'll get his chance to do that in Australasia.
