Italian misfit Mario Balotelli has admitted to the media that he believes Brendan Rodgers to be at fault for his poor form at Liverpool, due to the tactics employed by the manager.

The quotes emerged days after Balotelli left Liverpool for a year long loan spell at AC Milan, just a year after the Merseysiders bought him from Milan for £16million.

The striker endured a horrific year on L4, as he struggled for fitness and form, failing to replace Luis Suarez - who had left for Barcelona in a £75million deal.

Balotelli scored just four goals in all competitions, one of them being a penalty, and it appeared that the clubs patience wore thin with the striker, after reports emerged of him being a disruption to training sessions and more.

Mario not to blame?

These were allegations which Balotelli denied, explaining that the "grown up Mario" was at Liverpool for a year, and he felt there "hadn't been any problems" for over a year regarding his private life.

Despite admitting that he "missed easy chances" during the opening weeks of his Reds career, Balotelli told of his frustration that he had "fewer opportunities to score" as the team's form nosedived from October onwards.

The blame for this was attributed to the manager, with Balotelli saying that "Brendan Rodgers' formation didn't suit my characteristics". This looked to be true, with Balotelli thriving when he was rarely played with a partner such as Daniel Sturridge, but looking slack when used on his own up-front.

National ambition

Despite the disappointment of the last 12 months, he does have chance for a turnaround now he is back in Italy, at a club he knows well.

His record of 30 goals in 54 games for Milan before leaving is one that Balotelli will be looking to reproduce, with him revealing that he hopes to perform well enough to be called up to the national team for Euro 2016.

Balotelli revealed that he "wants to do well for Milan" and as a result of this, potentially "regain a place in the national team".

He expressed his desire to play in next Summer's Euro's, and vowed that he will do "everything to achieve that".
