Lazar Marković has completed a season-long loan to Fenerbahce after successfully undergoing his medical on Sunday afternoon.

The Liverpool winger was given the go-ahead to spend the campaign in Turkey, with Brendan Rodgers deeming his squad deep enough not to need the services of the Serbian.

The 21-year-old endured a difficult first 12 months on Merseyside following a £20 million switch from Benfica. He suffered from a lack of minutes, which seemed to affect his confidence, and the Reds believe a spell with Fenerbahce will prove beneficial.

The deal does not include an option to buy, with Rodgers insisting that the forward still has a future at Anfield beyond the current season - and they will be hoping Marković can make his mark in a side that boasts attacking talents such as Nani, Robin Van Persie and former Reds midfielder Raul Meireles.

Marković yet to seal regular Liverpool berth

In his first season on L4, the Serbian international made 34 appearances and scored three goals, but was only able to demonstrate his attacking potential in flashes as he took up an unfamiliar wing-back role for the majority of the campaign.

But Liverpool hope that regular football in his preferred attacking role in the Turkish Süper Lig, with a side who finished runners-up last year, will allow him to regain his self-assurance.

Marković becomes the 12th Liverpool player so far this summer to be loaned out, with ten of those deals lasting the entire season. Harry Wilson and Mario Balotelli recently penned retrospective temporary moves to Crewe Alexandra and AC Milan

Left-back Joe Maguire also secured a one-month loan to Leyton Orient earlier in the week and sat on the bench as the Londoners maintained their 100% record five games into the season, recording a 2-0 win over Bristol Rovers on Saturday afternoon.

The 19-year-old, a regular at under-21 level, has been sent out to League Two in the hope gaining some much-needed first team football after he impressed in his cameos in pre-season.
