Liverpool duo Fabio Borini and Jose Enrique, deemed surplus to requirements at the club, are finally edging towards exits.

Borini has attracted fresh interest from Sunderland, where he spent a successful season-long loan two years ago, whilst left-back Enrique is a target for West Bromwich Albion.

The ex-Swansea City and AS Roma striker joined the North East club in a temporary deal and scored 10 goals in 40 appearances in all competitions, including unforgettable strikes to give them a win at his former club Chelsea and Manchester City in the final of the Capital One Cup.

The Italian was the subject of an accepted £10 million bid, rising to £14 million with additional instalments at the end of his loan spell, but Borini rejected the deal to fight for a first-team place on Merseyside.

However, the Black Cats are still willing to pay £8 million for the 24-year-old, with a reported £2 million included in add-ons.

With Borini having been linked with numerous clubs over the summer, including Serie A side Inter Milan most recently, he may be more open to a switch to the Stadium of Light this time around with his future at Anfield well and truly over.

Left-back Enrique close to West Brom deal

He started just three times in the Premier League last season, scoring a single goal in a 2-0 win away at Aston Villa, but is not in Brendan Rodgers' plans.

Enrique, who joined back in 2011 for a fee in the region of £7 million, has made only 18 total appearances over the last two years, starting just six in 2014-15.

Liverpool are desperate to rid themselves of the 29-year-old, who they view as a disruptive figure behind the scenes, with Tony Pulis' side in talks over a deal.

The Baggies have been looking to strengthen their defence throughout the summer, bringing in Jonny Evans and James Chester for a combined fee of £16 million with Joleon Lescott likely to leave.

Another who could leave before Tuesday night's transfer window deadline is young centre-back Tiago Ilori, who is also interesting Sunderland.

He has yet to make his senior debut for the Reds, spending the last two seasons away on loan spells after a £7 million switch fro Sporting CP, and is unlikely to break into the first-team this season.
