It is approaching two years since a Luis Suarez-shaped hole was ripped out of the hearts of Liverpool fans, and the old wounds will feel brand new as the 29-year-old revealed why he left the Reds recently.

The current Barcelona striker sat down with former teammate Jamie Carragher to speak about his time at Anfield, his Catalan triumphs and his infamous winning mentality.

On Liverpool career

Speaking about his move to Liverpool, Suarez said it was "a dream" but he opted to quickly mention his reasons to head for pastures new as he revealed: "I wanted more."

With the striker now boasting Champions League, Copa Del Rey and La Liga medals and with the Reds now struggling, it would be hard to begrudge a player who scored 82 goals across 133 games on Merseyside, as it seems that he made the right career choice

Regarding his attitude and drive and determination to be one of the best players in the world, he said: "My attitude was to always keep growing." The Uruguay international said part of the reason he left Liverpool was due to Barcelona being in the Champions League, presenting him a golden opportunity to win the tournament.

"There had to be that opportunity to not just play the tournament," added Suarez, "but to win it."

On adapting to Barcelona life

Liverpool's former No.7 revealed he did not believe he would be able to adapt to the Barcelona 'Tiki-Taka' system in the beginning believing that without the space due to their style, he would find it "difficult."

Suarez said he "worried about that" but cited that "the help of my teammates" and manager Luis Enrique puttinh him "in the No 9 position" helped him to become more "comfortable."

The £75 million striker said his relationship, with the other members of the media-hailed 'MSN' strike partnership with Lionel Messi and Neymar, is "magnificent" and he said it was Messi who allowed him to find that much needed comfortability as in a Champions League game against Ajax; the two traded positions and "felt comfortable" and "decided to stay that way."

Delving further into the relationship of MSN he said they all are "happy for each other (scoring goals)" and called their partnership "natural" revealing he is not "envious of Leo or Ney."

On what drives him to win

Playing in the current system of the La Liga giants, Suarez said "I enjoy myself a lot more" saying he does not feel the "responsibility" that he "felt sometimes at Ajax and Liverpool."

"I want to enjoy every minute" was the overall message but he said that while in England the responsibility he was under "affected me the wrong way sometimes."

Carragher brought up the past problems his teammate had experienced and how they are no longer talked about due to the quality of football he is producing to which the striker said: "I want to be remembered for the good things."

Speaking his feelings after the Crystal Palace defeat in the 2013/14 Premier League season, he said: "That hurt. That hurt so much." Suarez said he "knew" that when Liverpool failed to win in that game "the league was lost."

On missing the Premier League

The striker was often made public enemy number one during his time in English football but when asked if he missed playing in England's top tier he replied: "Yes. Yes."

He said the unpredictability of the Premier League was something he missed as "(in the league) you never really know what is going to happen" while trying not to be "disrespectful" he said in La Liga the press may be hinting at questions such as "let’s see how many goals Barcelona are going to score."

He also described the Anfield atmosphere as "incredible" and added that the way the fans "transmitted to the players" was incredible as he said if you were "not in the best mood" then going out to warm up in front of the fans would "totally change" his "mentality."

On Liverpool return

In what would be a dream scenario for Liverpool supporters, Suarez spoke about the possibility of a return to his former club when asked if he would like to be Carragher's first signing as Liverpool boss. He asked: "When are you going to become the  manager?"

Sensing an opportunity to appease fans of his former employers, he said: "Shall we say three years?" as the former centre-back asked when he would be ready to come back.

The 38-year-old insisted he should "start doing badges now" in anticipation for the return which would be a dream come true for any Liverpool fan that has witnessed the magic the Barcelona striker was able to produce week in, week out.
