According to Goal UK, Real Madrid have contacted Manchester City about the availability of Álvaro Negredo.

With Radamel Falcao's move to the Bernabeu looking increasingly unlikely, the European champions are in the market for a striker to provide competition for Karim Benzema. Negredo enjoyed a successful start to life in Manchester, scoring 23 goals in all competitions in his first six months at the Etihad Stadium, but the 29-year-old failed to find the back of the net in the last remaining four months of City's title winning campaign.

Negredo suffered a broken metatarsal in Manchester City's pre-season friendly defeat to Dundee and is likely to return in September. However, with Stevan Jovetić, Sergio Agüero and Edin Džeko all fighting for places in Manuel Pellegrini's forward line, the Spaniard may find it difficult to secure a place in City's starting eleven this season.

Valencia have also registered an interest in the player who City value at €25 million.
