Aguero out for at least a month with knee injury

It has been confirmed in the last 24 hours that Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero will be out for at least a month with the knee injury that he picked up against Everton in Saturday's 1-0 win. A real shame, given he is their talisman.

Manchester City's talisman in attack, Argentinian striker Sergio Aguero, is out for at least a month after suffering a knee ligament injury early on during the side's 1-0 win over Everton in their Premier League fixture on Saturday evening.

It is not yet clear as to when exactly he will return to the first-team set-up, but manager Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that he will be out of action for at least a month following his latest injury; making it his ninth setback since he joined The Citzens from Spanish side Atlético Madrid back in 2012 for £30million pounds.

With that being said, this is a blow that City will have to find a way to deal with. Dzeko has been inconsistent following his recent injury struggles, whilst Jovetic has not been able to get a look into the side that splashed £20million pounds on him last season from Serie A side Fiorentina. Pellegrini will hope that his players can step up to the plate, given the fact that they need to stay on-track if they are to keep up the pace at the top of the table with current leaders Chelsea, who lost their first league game of the season on Saturday in a 2-1 defeat against Newcastle.

Pellegrini had this to say to news reporters on Tuesday night in the pre-match press conference: "We know that Sergio is injured and cannot play tomorrow, but we will see how long he will be out. I think that it is more important for us to think about the players we have ready for the important game in Rome. It's difficult to know the exact amount of weeks he will be injured, it could be four, five or maybe six weeks. Depends on how quickly he recovers.

The current situation in Group E is as follows: Bayern Munich are top of the group and have already qualified. Roma, CSKA and City are in second, third and bottom respectively, but all three teams are on the same number of points meaning it can go either way.

Roma - Manchester City - Pellegrini's men need to win to secure their place in the knockouts

CSKA Moscow - Bayern Munich - As well as hoping that Russian side CSKA do not get a result against Bayern.
