According to former England U21 manager Peter Taylor, Manchester City's new club-record signing Raheem Sterling will become 'unplayable' when he hits top-form with his new employers.

After a rather tedious transfer saga was completed earlier this month, a £49million pound fee was agreed between City and his now-former side Liverpool, meaning he has become the country's most-expensive player of all-time; which is a lot of pressure in itself.

Pressure on for a very talented player

It's startling when you realise Raheem is still only 20 years of age, and yet, he's established himself as one of the brightest talents in world football with the hunger and drive to succeed at a top club. Liverpool were the platform he used to assert his first-team credentials, especially in the 2013-14 campaign with the formidable duo of Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suárez next to him in attack.

Peter Taylor was quick to state although Sterling is a fantastic player, you could see his form dropped towards the end of last term - which hurt both his side and his image as many were suggesting he was more focused on angling for a move away from Anfield than anything else.

He stated that he was 'pleased for him' that the move has materialised, especially after the turbulent few months surrounding his future. Although it's not Sterling's main job to score goals as opposed to creating chances, Taylor stated if the 20-year-old does manage to add more goals to his game, he'd be 'worth every penny'.

Manuel Pellegrini has already outlined Sterling's strengths and how it'll help the team to improve all-round, especially given the fact he boasts versatility that many youngsters have to be able to display in the current game today. Taylor meanwhile added that Raheem can 'play as a forward because he has a lot of speed', but can also play on the wing too.

Lastly, he insisted that the price of the player is not the most important component - 'the most important thing is to choose the player you need.'
