Manchester City central midfielder Fernandinho has publicly stated his belief that the sky Blues have no intention of slowing down the momentum, having enjoyed an impressive start to their league campaign.

They broke a club-record for the most amount of consecutive wins in the English top flight, with ten currently, and the Brazilian starred in a comfortable display at home against newly-promoted Watford at the Ethiad Stadium on Saturday afternoon. In an efficient showing, he bossed the midfield with a plethora of interceptions and key tackles to deny Quique Sánchez Flores' side going forward.

City hoping to avoid losing focus after international break

The club's run of form could possibly now be halted by the much-dreaded international break, but Manuel Pellegrini's men will be determined not to lose focus - having been the only side in the league to record twelve points out of a possible twelve.

On the 2-0 victory against Watford, he said he thought it was "one of the best games we have ever played at home", and he is "happy" to have scored his second goal in as many games, following his strike against the reigning champions Chelsea a fortnight ago.

He also said, after a victory such as their own, "the most important thing is to try to keep the same performance", consistency to build on results and continue to win points. "We take more confidence to play for the national team as well and I hope, when we come back, we can keep on the same level as well."

Having had three consecutive draws, the Hornets succumbed to their first league defeat of the new campaign - and given their overall performance, it was not particularly surprising. They failed to offer much attacking-wise, despite an encouraging defensive display at times. City will be undoubtedly hoping they can continue to improve, especially with the new signings still to integrate in their side; Nicolás Otamendi and Kevin de Bruyne.
