11:45 - Hello everyone, I am Danial Kennedy and welcome to VAVEL's coverage of the first match of the weekend in the Premier League between Tottenham and Manchester City

City have dominated this fixture home and away in recent years with seven wins in their last eight with the only exception been Tottenham’s 3-1 victory at White Hart Lane back in 2013. It is also a fixture for goals with City scoring no fewer than 16 goals in the last four meetings with the Lilywhites.

Mason, Moussa Dembele and Nabil Bentaleb are all expected to be side-lined for the visit of Pellegrini’s side with Eric Dier expected to be partnered in the middle by Dele Alli. Kane is expected to spearhead the attack despite not scoring yet this season with Son expected to partner alongside the Englishman.

Skipper Vincent Kompany is expected to make a return in the centre of City’s defence after he missed out in last week’s defeat to the Hammers.

David Silva is expected to be absent after been injured in last week’s warm up with Jesus Navas expected to keep his place while Samir Nasri and Pablo Zabaleta are expected to return.

Manuel Pellegrini’s Manchester City have come back down to earth with a bump in the last week as their great start to the season came to an abrupt end.

They came flying out of traps with comfortable victories over West Brom, Chelsea, Everton and Watford.

However since the international break the momentum has begun to falter with a very late three points against Crystal Palace and their European woes continued last week with a 2-1 defeat to Italian champions Juventus which was followed by their first league defeat with their 2-1 loss at the Etihad to West Ham United.

However they have managed to stay eight points clear and came back with a bang in midweek with a 4-1 thrashing of Sunderland midweek in the Capital One Cup. Goals from Sergio Aguero, Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and an own goal from Vito Mannone was enough to cancel Ola Toivonen’s late effort to progress into the fourth round.

The international break seems to have done wonders for Spurs as they will look for their third consecutive win on Saturday.

The beginning of the season was woeful for Mauricio Pochettino’s side as they failed to win within their opening four matches despite been the better side in the majority of the matches. They dominated in their opening day defeat to Manchester United and threw away points in their draws with Stoke City and Leicester City before a goal-less draw with Everton.

The fortnight away from domestic football seems to have done the side the world of good and despite Harry Kane still misfiring they have found goals from elsewhere with Ryan Mason and summer signing Son Heung-min giving them 1-0 wins over Sunderland and Crystal Palace.

They would have been disappointed with their 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in the Capital One Cup midweek but it seems Pochettino is focused of stealing the three points on Saturday.

Manchester City will be looking to get back on track on Saturday lunchtime when they travel south to take on Tottenham Hotspur.
