A confident display from Van Gaal who seems comfertable and well suited for the role so far, seemingly ideal’ a Manchester United man

The new man has his work cut out for him following a disastrous last season for Man Utd that sees the club without European football for the first time in a long while, however this isn’t a man to shirk a challenge.  Van Gaal was full of praise for Sir Bobby Charlton “First of all I want to thank Bobby Charlton, Sir Bobby Charlton because it’s a great honour to come in this stadium and to be guided by Sir Bobby Charlton”

Looking upon the season ahead Van Gaal said: “I do upmost best that’s what I give I cannot give predictions because you never know, it’s the biggest club of the word”. When asked about new signings Van Gaal stated “First I want to see the first three four weeks what they can do, and then maybe maybe I shall buy other players” he continued “the players that we have bought now Shaw and Herrera were already on the list, so I give my approval because I like them”.

Some positive news for the Class of 92 came as Van Gaal looks to provide roles for both Neville and Scholes, “Paul Scholes we will find a role for him and Phil Neville that’s what we want... We have to be also possible and that we have to look at”. He also will be looking to resolve the captaincy issue in “time”: “Quick decisions are not always good… I use my time. Captain of a team for me is very important”.

Van Gaal on his own qualities “I’m a democratic, empathetic human, of course I have a strong characteristic but the other characteristics are more important”… “that’s the key of my personality”. It shows as he believes “the challenge is always to come first, not fourth”. Van Gaal explained Alex Ferguson congratulated him on the job “Sir Alex called me to congratulate me… We know each other very well and I shall drink coffee and wine with him maybe the better wine”.

Van Gaal described his excitement on joining the club, “it’s difficult to describe. I’ve met a lot of people here, who are loving the club. It’s a big family. They expect a lot of me, they are excited to meet me, can I fulfil that expectation? I think I can. Van Gaal also revealed an injury to Michael Carrick to the extent of which was not revealed.

Van Gaal showed his faith in youth at previous clubs, it shows “you have to know that I’m not always convinced of the experience of players”. So could youth be key to Man Utd success this season?

So after that performance it’s safe to say that Van Gaal seems very relaxed so far at Old Trafford, but will he manage to return the good days back?
