Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has been instrumental this season and his performances are one of the reasons that Louis van Gaal's side currently sit in fourth place.

However, in the past few months, the rumours surrounding the Spanish goalkeeper and his future in Manchester have become stronger with Real Madrid clear favourites to land the superb shot-stopper in summer. Louis van Gaal has already made it clear that he wants his number one to stay at the club but can't stand in the way if De Gea wants a move.

News coming from Manchester over the weekend claim that United are ready to offer their keeper a new contract worth around £200,000 per week. The 24-year-old is reportedly keen to put pen to paper on the deal as United look to fend off interest from Madrid.

It is clear to say that De Gea has been United's performer of the season and is likely to scoop the award at the Manchester United player awards later this month.

De Gea has 13 months left on his original contract and has been at Old Trafford for four years now. After a slow start into his United career, the Spanish international has proved to many why Sir Alex Ferguson paid £17.8m for the keeper.

United are hopeful that De Gea will sign a new deal to keep him at the club so he can continue his brilliant performances and help the Red Devils in the near future.
