He grabbed the opener in Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Sunday but Ander Herrera says he must keep improving.

After an impressive debut season at Old Trafford, the Spaniard insists he cannot afford to sit back.

Despite early season troubles, starting just 9 of the first 18 games of the season, Herrera has fully established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet.

Since returning to first team action in United's 3-1 win against Burnley, Herrera has started 13 matches in a row, scoring 4 times and creating an average of 1 chance per game as well as a pass accuracy of 90%.

Herrera's opener put United in control in the first half but eventually Arsenal grabbed one back as Theo Walcott's shot was deflected in by Tyler Blackett. The 25-year-old said he was disappointed with the final result but pleased with the first half.

”I think we played good in the first half. In the second half we knew they were a good team and were going attack. It is a pity but they scored.

“I am happy with my development. I have to keep improving. My first season at a big club and I have played lots games and scored goals. I want to be as good as possible.

“I knew it wasn’t going to be easy. When you arrive at a massive club it is not easy but I am happy and looking forward to next season. I want to be a champion here.”

Manchester United's last game of the season is away to Hull City on Sunday 24th May.
