More often than not, when Real Madrid want a player, they generally get him and this looks like the case again with David de Gea.

The Manchester United goalkeeper, who claimed not only the fans' player of the season, but the players' player of the season at last nights end of season awards has been on Real Madrid's radar for several months now.

With no deal signed for United as of yet, manager Louis van Gaal will need to look for a perfect replacement for the Spaniard after many wonderful performances this season have helped the Reds secure a top four finish.

There have been a number of possible replacements for the United goalkeeper if he decides to go back to Madrid this summer.

1) Hugo Lloris - Tottenham Hotspur

The Spurs keeper has been tipped as the favourite for the number one spot at Old Trafford after a strong season in North London. Despite only seven clean sheets for the Frenchman this season, the thought of Champions League football this season could twist his arm and swap London for Manchester this summer. Pochetinno is keen to keep the 30-year old but if United come with the right price he may not be able to refuse.

2) Petr Cech - Chelsea

Since the arrival of Thiabut Courtois after his two-year loan spell with Atletico Madrid, the veteran goalkeeper has not been given as much game time as he would of hoped. Arsenal have also been linked with Cech who is still a brilliant keeper but would likely get more starts in Manchester. Mourinho has praised the 33-year old many times this season, but admits that the decision is out of his hands.

3) Asmir Begovic - Stoke City

Only 27-years-old Begovic has once again proven himself this season and Mark Hughes will once again have fear of losing the keeper. Despite having talented Jack Butland as a replacement, Begovic has still got a lot more to offer, but European football could be the reason behind leaving the Britannia Stadium this summer.

4) Victor Valdes - Manchester United

Given a chance to work on his rehabilitation from injury at Manchester United, the Spanish international was offered a contract in January and could be next in line at Old Trafford. However, his only appearance came in the weekend's draw to Arsenal after De Gea picked up an injury. The 33-year-old is full of experience due to his time with Barcelona, and this could be the reason why van Gaal offered him a contract - to replace his international teammate.

5) Jasper Cillessen - Ajax

The Dutch national keeper has the potential to become one of the best and is currently under United's radar after goalkeeper coach Frans Hoek's recommendation. The Ajax number one has been a huge admirer of van Gaal's and could be making his way to Old Trafford - one year after his teammate Daley Blind made the same move.
