Danny Blind was named the new Holland manager this week after Gus Hiddink stepped down and in an interview Blind revealed he rejected a 'fantastic offer' to work with Louis van Gaal at Manchester United.

Blind was part of Louis van Gaal's coaching staff for two years as Holland finished third at the World Cup last summer. Last summer Van Gaal brought Frans Hoek with him to United and he wanted Blind to follow but he was promised he would be the coach of Holland.

Danny Blind reveals he was offered United coaching job

Last summer Blind "had a fantastic offer from Manchester United,” Blind said. Blind also admitted that there were "talks about Van Gaal and United a few times last year" but Blind wanted to stay with the Dutch National team so he "rejected the offer" and he doesn't regret it.

Blind went onto say that “if you have ambition" there is nothing "more beautiful than becoming manager of your country?", as Blind was this week named the new Holland manager replacing Gus Hiddink.

It was stated that Danny Blind would take over from Gus Hiddink after the 2016 European Championships in France, but Hiddink resigned last week after a poor run of results which has left Holland in danger of not qualifying for France.

Danny Blind has an excellent relationship with Louis Van Gaal

Blind has a very good relationship with Van Gaal as he captained Van Gaal's Ajax side in their 1995 Champions League victory. Van Gaal also brought Danny's son Daley to United last summer from Ajax as well.

Blind hasn't got very much managerial experience but he briefly managed Ajax in 2005-06 and his role as Holland manager will be his first foray into management in nine years.

Daley Blind could benfit from his dad being the Holland manager

Furthermore this means Daley Blind will be managed by his father so he will maybe get the captains armband in the not to distant future. If Danny was offered the United job it just shows how much Louis Van Gaal he rates him as a coach and he should be happy that he was.
