Former Manchester United player Diego Forlan has insisted that the Red Devils should not sell Angel Di Maria this summer and should instead persist with him.

Di Maria is currently away at the Copa America with Argentina and has been in great form scoring two goals in the semi final win versus Paraguay. Di Maria has also got three assists so far in the tournament and is set to start in tonight's final versus Chile and Forlan says United will regret it if they sell him this summer.

Forlan wants United to stick with Di Maria

Forlan reveals in his latest National Column that "Di Maria was a superb signing for United", but he went onto say that he was "slightly suprised" at the signing of Di Maria, who he says is one of the

Forlan said that "Van Gaal has a habit of letting South Americans leave" and Forlan says that's why he is shocked that, "United signed both Di Maria and Falcao last summer".

Forlan saying its worth the efffort with Di Maria

Forlan warns United not to sell Di Maria saying that "he's worth the effort" and he just wants United to realise that "he offers something different from almost every other player."

Forlan says his old team will "regret it if he leaves" and he believes that Di Maria deserves at least one more season and they need to "try to understand him better and trust him".

Not many South American players do well at United

United have had a total of fourteen different South American players play for them over the years and not many have prospered except Carlos Tevez. The big hope is that Di Maria will regain his form and be the player everyone knows he can be.

Di Maria will come good sooner rather than later and United just have to stick it out and definitely do not sell him. If and when he regains his Real Madrid form he will be very hard to stop and it shows with the high level teams wanting to sign him they know he's world class.
