Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has hailed the impact of the new signing Bastian Schweinsteiger on youngsters.

After spending 17 years at Bayern Munich, the German international joined the Red Devils this summer. Rooney suggested that the Bavarian needed very less time to settle into the dressing room.

Schweinsteiger has settled in quickly

The England captain suggested that there is a different “aura” around Schweinsteiger and he is  “obviously a fantastic player.” Schweinsteiger has showns his experience and leadership qualities both on and off the pitch during the pre-season. Along with the other fellow signings Matteo DarmianMorgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay he has integrated well with the squad.

Since joining the squad for preseason Rooney revealed that Schweinsteiger “has been a fantastic person, talking with all the players and the young players too”. He also added that it is a boost for the team to have “someone of that experience and who is that successful” and labelled the German captain as “a great addition to the team.”

Experienced Schweinsteiger will hope in bid for trophies

Rooney also suggested that with him Manchester United can surely challenge for trophies next year. The German has been a very influential figure for Bayern Munich over the years as he has won all major honours with them. On international level he bagged a World Cup medal last year when Germany beat Argentina in the final.

Louis Van Gaal was key in Schweinsteiger’s career as he was the one who converted him into a holding midfielder in which he excelled. The Dutchmen was very happy and excited to be reunited with him at Old Trafford. Schweinsteiger played two halves in two pre season matches against Club America and San Jose Earthquakes. He missed out in the game against Barcelona with a very minor injury but is expected to play a part in the final game of the tour against Paris Saint Germain.
