Manchester United's versatile player admitted that he had rejected an offer to join Arsenal as a kid, only to stay in the Ajax academy and achieve his dreams.

According to the Daily Mirror, Blind revealed that his parents received a call from Arsenal to sign their kid.

Blind turned down move to London to achieve Ajax dream

Blind said that he "had the chance to move to London at a young age,".

Blind was in the Ajax academy at that age. And one day he came home from school only to be told that "Arsenal have called today, they want you", by his mum and dad.

It was Blind's dream to "be a player in the first team of Ajax".

The player went to Arsenal for a day and he admitted that "it was great. They offered to sort out everything for my schooling, so I could get my A levels. They also offered me an incredible contract, especially for a boy of my age. Ajax offered me a contract too at the same time. The money was nowhere near what I could earn at Arsenal. My dad left it up to me and I decided to stay at Ajax."

The four times Eredivisie winner admitted that his dream was to become an Ajax first team player and to follow the footsteps of his dad, Danny Blind, current Netherlands football team manager.

Blind said "no, partially because I was lucky to have everything I needed at home."

Blind wanted to achieve what father had done

However there was another reason he rejdcted Arsenal for "I wanted to follow in the footsteps of my dad, Danny. He had been captain of Ajax, won every trophy in the world with them."

Blind was signed by his former Netherlands international manager Louis van Gaal only to provide versatility to the Red Devils' squad as he was deployed in different positions such as Left Back, Centre Back and Central Midfield.

Blind had a promising first season at Old Trafford as he played 25 games for the club with an impressive 88% pass completion, 81 interceptions and 43 tackles won.

The Netherlands international scored and assisted twice for the Red Devils as well.

With Manchester United's new signings, Blind's versatility is surely a promising tactical factor for Louis van Gaal in coming season.
