Manchester United legend Dennis Irwin has hailed the Manchester United new signing Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The German international is one of the five  signings that the Red Devils have made this summer. He previously worked with Louis Van Gaal at Bayern Munich and is now again ready to start a new adventure with him.

The former Manchester United rightback has heaped a lot of praise on the German and described him as “a serial winner.” The German captain ended his 17 year relationship with Bayern Munich to taste success in England.

Irwin says Schweinsteiger knows how to win

While talking to United's official website Irwin suggested that Schweinsteiger will add a lot of quality to the squad as “he’s won several Bundesliga titles, the World Cup and made over 100 appearances for Germany and 500 for Bayern Munich.”

Van Gaal suggested that the German midifielder will have to fight for his place in the team as they boast an array of midfield talent. Schweinsteiger is set to become the first German player to make a first-team appearance for Manchester United.

Irwin excited at number of United signings

Along with him, United also bolstered their squad with Memphis DepayMatteo DarmianMorgan Schneiderlin and Sergio Romero. Irwin has expressed his excitement with the prospect of seeing all new signings play for United. He believes “all the players have been great additions” and he is “looking forward to seeing them play in the new season.”

With midfield being sorted, United are expected to be busy in the transfer window as they look to strengthen the attacking sector after the impending departure of Angel Di Maria. Rafael Da Silva is also on the move as he is set to join the French side Olympique Lyon after losing his first team place to Antonio Valencia last year.

The future of the Spanish shot stopper David De Gea is also not clear. His departure will force United to find a strong goalkeeper in the market.
