Paul Scholes slammed Louis van Gaal tactics on BT Sport before and after Manchester United's home game against Newcastle United on Saturday, after the game finished goaless, and feels the side should be better entertainment wise.

United won their first two Premier League matches 1-0 against Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa, but the performances in both games have been underwhelming, and Scholes voiced his frustration.

Scholes says watching United is like watching paint dry

Scholes said that "watching United over the last two years has been like watching paint dry" which is in reference to the slow football and excitement that is not being produced by the team.

Scholes then slammed Van Gaal after the game when the manager said United were "fantastic" and Scholes said "I didn't really think there was anything fantastic at all".

Scholes continued to say when "you are at home to Newcastle, you are expected to win the game" which didn't happen after United couldn't score and Scholes thinks they should be doing better than making then making the keeper make just "one save" so "fantastic? Not for [him]".

Scholes says Van Gaal should be getting his team to play better

Scholes believes with the managerial record which Van Gaal has across Europe, it should mean United producing better performances.

Another thing that Scholes finds worrying for United's sake is the form of Wayne Rooney, and has urged his old team that if there is a chance that Zlatan Ibrahimovic can be bought, then it must happen.

Scholes said "if there is any chance United can get him [Ibrahimovic], it must happen" as Scholes fully believes Ibrahimovic can do a Van Persie and win the title for United even if it's just for one year.

Scholes wants to see his old side get better like all of the other United fans do, but he must be careful with his continuous mouthing off about Van Gaal, and like all other fans wait to see how things pan out.
