Premier League side West Bromwich Albion are believed to have revived their interest in out-of-favour Manchester United defender, Jonny Evans.

The Midlands club were originally quoted £10 million for the Northern Ireland international, however with Evans looking less and less likely to be a permanent fixture in Louis Van Gaal’s first-team squad, United may lower their asking price.

Fazio deal breaks down

They have returned their interest to the 28-year-old after their deal for Tottenham Hotspur defender Federico Fazio broke down in the latter stages of the deal.

The defender was at the Baggies training ground on Friday morning after a £5m deal was agreed and whilst he passed a medical, the club were unable to agree a deal with defender himself, which could be revived as Mauricio Pochettino is still keen on bringing Sadio Berahino to White Hart Lane.

Evans, 27, who currently has one year left on his contract at Old Trafford, is attracting attention from a host of top-flight clubs with Everton, Stoke and Newcastle United all reportedly interested but none have made as of yet.

It is believed that Evans would prefer to join a side with European aspirations but Tony Pulis’ persuasion and also the factor of former teammate Darren Fletcher already at the club, could change his mind.

West Brom still in need of first league win

The former Stoke City and Crystal Palace coach was critical of his side's defending on Sunday after their 3-2 defeat to current champions Chelsea and is keen to bolster his squad ahead of transfer deadline day next week.

It is believed that Pulis is also looking to bolster his goalkeeping position with the top-flight side looking at Cardiff’s David Marshall, but have been unable to agree a fee with the Sky Bet Championship club with the Bluebirds valuing him at £5m.

West Brom will be looking to get their first win of the season when they travel to Stoke on Saturday, August 29.
