Louis van Gaal was a happy man after Manchester United beat Sunderland at the weekend to go to the top of the Premier League table, but he wasn't the only person at Old Trafford on Saturday with a beaming smile as he revealed that the security guard was also very happy.

United defeated Sunderland 3-0 on Saturday thanks to goals from Memphis Depay, Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata, which meant United were top of the league for the first time since August 2013. Van Gaal said everyone at the club was beaming, especially the security guard.

Van Gaal said "I am proud, of course I am" but Van Gaal wasn't the only person at the club who was proud as the security guard was as well. Van Gaal said to him after the game "you are now a security guard of a club that is top of the league" which makes everyone proud as "he's proud and I am proud".

Van Gaal for the first time since taking over as United manager has led United to the summit of the Premier League, and he revealed that he was smiling last weekend when for the first time United were second, so to be first makes it even more special for the boss.

Van Gaal starting to show the media that they were judging him far too early

Since Van Gaal took over as United manager the media have tried to say what a bad job he was doing, but right now the Dutchman is having the last laugh as he is proving all of the doubters wrong that he is taking United forward rather than backwards which has been branded previously by the media.

Van Gaal is too experienced to take this for granted though, and knows that United have a really tough set of fixtures coming. It will be a real test off United's title credentials to see if they really will be up there fighting for the Premier League title until the end of the season.
