Through Manchester United’s long, illustrious and world-renowned history there has always been players to turn into icons. From the days of George Best to the days of Cristiano Ronaldo, icons are made at this club.

But not many stick in the hearts of the United faithful more than former Manchester United player David Beckham, who is returning to Old Trafford later this year for a superstar's UNICEF charity match.

Old Trafford is "one of those places which will always be home for me”

In an interview with ManUtd.com on his upcoming return to Manchester for this charity match, he recalled fondly how Manchester “will always be home for me”.

A man made famous for his ability to pick out any United player with a cross more often than not, made him an instant threat whenever he had the ball at his feet. A real crowd pleaser that people enjoyed to see and of course his famous free-kicks.

He also said that “I have only great memories. I always love going back and taking my kids to games.”

It is obvious that David Beckham who enjoyed stints with Real Madrid, LA Galaxy and PSG after his Manchester United career came to an end, still holds his time at the Manchester club and his time in the city with very high regard. Despite the other great clubs he has been to.

All proceeds of match go to the charity UNICEF

The superstars game, which Beckham has helped to organise this year, will donate all money made to global charity UNICEF in which David Beckham has been an ambassador for 10 years now.

Beckham told the official club website that he is “very proud” of being an ambassador when asked about what the money will do he told the website that “they save so many children and help so many around the world and you know exactly where the funds are going.”

It is certain to be an entertaining match for families to watch and with all proceeds going to charity it is a great cause, especially with a legend like David Beckham coming back to Manchester a place he called home for 12 years.
