Manchester United right-back Guillermo Varela has revealed, in an interview with Ovacion, that Louis van Gaal has a diffcult personality to get used to, but feels he has the trust of the manager.

Varela has had to play a few games in recent weeks with the amount of injuries in the United defence

Varela has made four appearances this season for the first team with the club short on options in the full-back area with injuries to Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young and Luke Shaw, and Varela is delighted with the game time even though there were rumours about him leaving the club.

Varela, speaking to Ovacion about van Gaal, said "the rumours say there is always some kind of problem with South Americans. If I tell you the truth, I have had none" which just shows that the rumours about van Gaal always falling out with South Americans was made up as he can get on with them.

However, the defender added that van Gaal "has a difficult personality" and "sometimes it is not easy for the players" and that's why you get the rumours of him falling out with his players in the press, but if you're willing to meet the Dutchman halfway then there won't be any problems.

In the few games that Varela has played this season he has done extremely well in. The Uruguayan has had a lot of fans raving about how good he could become, which is a testament to Varela, who really has come in from out of nowhere to show that he does have the quality to make it at United.

Varela reveals Rooney looks after him

Varela revealed also that the senior players "look after you, help you style in, which helps a lot" which is what you need as a young player, and Varela says that "Rooney does most of the work now that others are retired" which is great that the captain does help as he is the leader in the dressing room.
