Newly appointed Southampton boss Ronald Koeman is said to be interested in signing Steven Caulker.

With Dejan Lovren appearing to be pushing for a move out of Southampton, Koeman is looking for a replacement - with the Cardiff man one of his top targets.

Caulker signed for Cardiff last year for a fee reportedly around £8M, the second highest transfer fee ever paid by the Welsh club. But after just one season at the Cardiff City Stadium, the club's relegation is understandably casting doubts over his future in Wales.

Still only 22 years old, a move back to the Premiership would make sense if he plans to stay in and around the England national side.

One of few positives for Cardiff last season, the Welsh club have a struggle on their hands to convince Caulker that his future lies with them.
