Southampton will be looking to get back to winning ways and maintain their great start to the season when they welcome Sunderland to the St Mary’s.

Many people tipped Southampton to struggle with Mauricio Pochettino leaving along with many big name players, however new man Ronald Koeman has managed to gather 13 points in the first seven games which clinched him manager of the month for September.

It also been a great start for striker Graziano Pelle who arrived from Feyenoord in the summer, the Italian has managed to score four goals so far which like his manger scooped him awards with the player of the month for September.

Sunderland will be on a high after they secured their first victory of the campaign before the international break with a 3-1 victory over Stoke City, Gus Poyet will be hoping that Steven Fletcher can keep up his goal scoring after he scored a brace last time out his first goals since December 2013.

The black cats have been consistent so far only losing one game but have drawn five or their first seven clashes, this match has a draw written all over it with the last three Premier League meetings between the two ending in a score draw.

Southampton have no fresh injury concerns ahead of this clash, Koeman is giving Senegalese striker Sadio Mane every chance to prove that he is prepared to start the game. Mane was expected to return to the south coast for training on Friday after he starred in the 1-0 defeat to Tunisia on Wednesday.

Sunderland have suffered a blow in defence after Billy Jones was ruled out, the full-back picked up a muscle injury which he picked up in a behind-closed-doors friendly last week. Jones joins Sebastian Coates, Emanuele Giaccherini and Ricky Alvarez on the treatment table.

The former Napoli defender Anthony Reveillere has been training on Wearside as Poyet looks for cover at the back, however it is likely that Santiago Vergini, who played for Argentina midweek, is likely to replace Jones at right-back.
