Southampton and Spurs are linked in transfer negotiations yet again, but this time a player may be heading to St Mary’s rather than it being the other way around.
The North London outfit have been very fond of signing players, and even a manager in Mauricio Pochettino, from the South Coast.
But in a twist of events, Saints have been heavily linked with Spurs second-choice right-back Kieran Trippier in what is believed to be around a £5 million deal.
Irregular feature
Former Burnley man Trippier didn't feature much in the Liliywhite shirt for Spurs last term due to Kyle Walker's impressive season and is after regular first-team football.
Amove away from White Hart Lane, just 12 months after he arrived, seems the best option for the player.
He only made six appearances in the Premier League last season and only managed a further 10 in all other competitions after being signed by ex-Saints boss Pochettino.
The tennant
Current household right-back Cedric Soares is still on holiday after his nation's Euro 2016 success, but this recruitment could add some extra competition for places in the squad.
Saints boss Claude Puel and his side have Europa League football this season too, so boosting the squad and its depth is key to the success for the long and hectic season ahead.
