Swansea City have taken five points from their last five games since caretaker manager Alan Curtis has taken charge, and Lukasz Fabianski believes that they are "progressing" as the Welsh outfit get ready for the second half of the season.

Manchester United earned three points against the struggling side at the weekend, but only through a late Wayne Rooney goal, denying Fabianski's team of a point that their performance warranted.

Unlucky defeat

Despite the fact that Swansea walked away with nothing from their trip to Old Trafford, the performance saw further signs of improvement which shows they are moving "in the right direction," which Fabianski is pleased with.

Gylfi Sigurdsson's goal had ruled out Anthony Martial's opener, showcasing Swansea's ability to fight and perform, even at one of the toughest places to visit in the league. Now, Swansea's shot stopper hopes that they can follow up another good displaying by being "able to prove [their quality] with good results" in forthcoming games, as they hope to further escape relegation.

Gylfi Sigurdsson's header was in vain ultimately at Old Trafford.

The Swans didn't look like a team that was struggling in Manchester, despite the standings. They managed to "create chances" and put United under pressure, which Fabianski believes shows "something positive is happening."

Need for a manager

Meanwhile, in the dugout, the club have failed to replace former manager Garry Monk on a permanent basis as the search reaches its fourth week, and rumours have now suggested that Curtis himself might be given the role, at least until the end of the season.

Curtis has managed to turn Swansea's fortunes around since taking charge, and both the fans and players have joined together to work with him. Now, BBC pundit Graeme Le Saux believes "it is really important Swansea make a commitment to him."

With two important Premier League fixtures against Sunderland and Watford coming up - after an FA Cup tie where Swansea are set to face Oxford United - the opportunity is there for the club to really gain some momentum that could see them steer clear of the relegation zone, and provide a little breathing space.

Ensuring that Curtis is going to be granted the rest of the season could give the squad the belief that they need over these next few games to make sure that the results are positive, rather than Swansea rushing for a quick fix.
