West Bromwich Albion's forward Salomon Rondon denied Swansea City three points on Tuesday by making it 1-1 in stoppage time at the Hawthorns.

The Venezuelan striker was at the right place at the right time when the ball dropped to his feet in front of the mouth of the goal. Rondon wasted no time and blasted the ball into the back of the net in the 92nd minute to send the remaining fans into a state of ecstasy. The South American forward also robbed the Swans of a crucial three points in the process, and a third successive win.

Lacklustre first half

However, the first part of the game can be categorised by wasted opportunities. Both clubs had multiple chances but they only managed to put two shots on target apiece in the first half. The Baggies and the Jacks created six shots each in the first 45 minutes, but the two clubs struggled to produce consistent attacks, simply just keep possession, or create realistic chances.

The Welsh club registered their first shot on target in the 33rd minute from Gylfi Sigurdsson's long range half volley. However, Albion's 'keeper Ben Foster reacted quickly and managed to knock the ball out for a Swansea corner kick. Like the other six they won though, this set play came to nothing.

The biggest moment in the first half was when Swansea midfielder Ki Sung-Yeung was hit in the head and knocked unconscious for a few minutes. Swans manager Francesco Guidolin was forced to take the South Korean international out of the game. He then put in newly signed Italian striker Alberto Paloschi just before half time.

New signing makes a difference - but not enough for the win

In the second half the striker went to work. His energy started to wreak havoc on the Baggies. Paloschi gave André Ayew, Wayne Routledge and Sigurdsson more space to operate - and it paid off as Sigurdsson was able to give the Swans a 1-0 lead.

A through ball was fed to Paloschi in the penalty box, where he was confronted by a defender immediately and the ball was poked away from him. To the right of Paloschi, however, was Sigurdsson, who wasted no time and placed the ball to the bottom left hand corner of the net, giving his side the lead just past the hour.

The Jacks had stunned the home club and were now attempting to build on their lead. However, they failed to convert their chances they created in the match - only four of their 18 shots hitting the target.

Their missed chances then came back to haunt them when Rondon scored the equaliser in the dying moments.

Though they left the Hawthorns - a tough place to go - with a point in the bag, the result will be a big blow for the Welsh club since they were only minutes away from earning all three.

The Jacks did move further away from the drop though as they now sit in 16th place ahead of Saturday's match against Crystal Palace at the Liberty Stadium.
