Swansea City received a major boost today when manager Francesco Guidolin announced that their Spanish striker Borja Baston was now back in full training with the rest of the Swans squad.

“Borja has stepped up his recovery and has now rejoined the full group on the training field,” said Guidolin.

“He is progressing well and if things continue as they are I am confident he will be available for selection for the visit of Chelsea.’’

Baston has had a thigh injury ever since his £15.5 million transfer to the Swans from Atletico Madrid a few weeks back and looks set to make his debut for the Swans at the Liberty Stadium when Chelsea come to town on September 11.

It has been a frustrating time for, not only the manager and the player himself, but for the Swans fans who have been eagerly awaiting the player's debut.

Difficult week for the Swans

To put it mildly, it has been a difficult week for the Welsh team. A poor performance against Leicester City, where they narrowly lost 2-1 against last season's Premier League champions, was followed by the failure to strengthen the squad before the transfer deadline ended last Wednesday evening.

The Swansea City board and chairman, Huw Jenkins, in particular, have received much criticism from all quarters for their failure to reinforce the team. Swansea fans are now pinning their hopes on Borja being the player to lift their mood and to score goals aplenty for them.

So far this season, only Leroy Fer has has hit the net for the Swans, scoring in both of the team's away games against Burnley, where he scored the winning goal and against Leicester, where he scored the Swans consolation goal.

Guidolin happy with his squad

Despite the obvious failure to recruit new players, Swans manager Francesco Guidolin nevertheless is happy with the squad he has it his disposal.

“I believe the additions we’ve made over the summer will strengthen the squad,” he said. I am happy with the squad I have available, with two players competing for every position. There is plenty of quality there and the club has done well to allow me to do my job in the right way." said Guidolin.

Guidolin will be even happier today knowing that the Swans record transfer signing, Borja Baston, is now back in full training.
