Christian Eriksen popped up at the death to win the tie for Spurs against a valiant Sheffield United side, sealing a mouthwatering League Cup final date with Chelsea on March 1st.

Eriksen opened and finished the scoring on a thrilling night in South Yorkshire. He first gave Spurs the lead on the night just short of the half hour mark when he whipped in a free kick off the inside of the left post.

It looked like Spurs were going to romp to a 2-0 aggerate win, but out of nowhere substitiute Che Adams scored his first two goals for Sheffield United within the space of three minutes to threaten extra time and a truly great cup shock.

However Spurs stayed calm and found a way to win within the 90 minutes as Eriksen netted again in a cool one on one with the keeper just two minutes from the end of normal time.

Spurs made their class show in the first half, but in fact it was United who had the first big chance of the game just 10 minutes in when Michel Vorm dropped Jamal Campbell-Rice's right wing cross as far as Jamie Murphy who saw his right footed effort cleared off the line by Kyle Walker.

Spurs started to get a grip on the game though as it progressed and striker Harry Kane became a constant threat with him hitting the post just a couple of minutes before the first goal when he was put in down the left side of the box and he tried to force it in at the near stick left footted.

Just two minutes later and Eriksen broke the deadlcok with a right footed free kick from the right which bent away from keeper Mark Howard on his side of the goal and clipped in off the inside of the left post high.

The second half was a lot more of a calm affair with Spurs just happy to sit on their two goal lead in the tie. Then though the game sprung into life in the last 15 minutes as the Blades levelled things up on the night courtesy of substitiute Jay Adam's first goal for the club as he got on the end of Flynn's low cross from the right and steered the ball back across goal with his right foot.

Then just two minutes later the roof nearly came off Bramall Lane as Adams struck again, this time after good work from Murphy with a cross from the right, which found Adams who controlled it in the middle of the box and then struck with the ball taking a huge deflection off Eric Dier and going into the bottom corner.

However there was to be heartbreak for Sheffield United as Christian Eriksen popped up with yet another decisive late goal for Spurs. He tied the game on the night up and won it on aggerate in the 88th minute after Harry Kane played it through to him down the middle and he just clamly left footed passed the ball back across goal into the bottom right corner to send the away fans into raptures and set up a final date with Chelsea.
