The Europa League tie saw Tottenham hold Fiorentina to a 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane.
Spurs dominated the first 45 minutes courtesy of some horrendous defending by the visiting side but failed to capitalize on what could've been a first-half drubbing of four or even five goals.
After a tactical substitution by Vince Montella, that deprived Andros Townsend and Kyle Walker of their first-half antics, Spurs looked out of sorts and after La Viola scored. Tottenham and Pochettino had no answer to leave the score at 1-1 and the North London side rueing missed opportunites.
Understandably the result left Pochettino and the players disappointed, among them - Ben Davies, who spoke to Spurs TV: "It was a tough game but one i think we were disappointed we didn't pick up the win and atleast give us some help going into the tough game we're going to have next week, now.
"In the first half we had to chances to pick up a second or maybe even a third goal and if we did that i'm sure the tie is completely different at this stage but we didn't take advantage of our chances and we've got to go away now and do a job out there.
"They were a good side, the first twenty minutes we pressed them well and caused them some problems and then they changed their system and they were a typical Italian side where they were solid at the back, hard to break down and i'm sure that's what we're going to come up against next week."
When asked about the upcoming 2nd leg away at the Stadio Artemio Franchi: "We're confident we can go out there, it's the only way we can be, score the goals and win the game."
