Premier League newcomers Watford continue to be linked with a host of players from the Italian Serie A. After deals for Genoa's Diego Perotti and Inter Milan pair Davide Santon and Zdravko Kuzmanovic broke down in recent days, the Pozzo family have looked to take advantage of Napoli's interest in Allan to the benefit of both Watford and the Zebrette.

The imminent deal taking Udinese's Brazilian midfield starlet Allan to Napoli could see Miguel Britos and Gokhan Inler swap the Stadio San Paolo for Vicarage Road.

Watford could take advantage of Allan interest

According to various sources, Allan will move to join the Partenopei for €11 million (£7.8 million) and the playing rights of both Britos and Inler. Miguel Britos is said to be close to finalising his move, which many believing this will be a loan deal. The nature of the second deal is unknown but talks are ongoing with Inler and the signing of the Swiss enforcer would represent something of a coup for a side that finished second in the Championship last season.

However, with Tottenham's Etienne Capoue nearing a club-record £5.5 million switch to Vicarage Road, it remains to be seen whether two similar players on high wages would be needed.

Interestingly, Perotti's preference to move to Napoli over Watford could see Belgian wideman Dries Mertens move closer towards the exit door with Watford said to be credited with an early approach.

Certainly with the international transfer window open for only a few days so far, the ambition of Watford's rumoured transfer dealings before the start of the new Premier League season makes a stark contrast to the moves made on a shoestring budget only four years ago. The Hertfordshire outfit have also signed Matej Vydra on a permenant deal, defender Sebastian Prodl and left-back Jose Holebas amongst others. Captain Troy Deeney has also signed a new five year deal at the club.
