As Quique Sanchez Flores' Watford side prepare to face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon, the Hornets will be confident of their chances of picking up all three points - despite both teams being somewhat out of form.

For Watford, the incredible start Flores' side made to the Premier League campaign - a run of form which included scalps like the Hornets' impressive 3-0 win over Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool - has come to a stuttering stop in recent months.

Out of form

The Golden Boys have won just one league game in eight fixtures and the prolific goalscoring of Odion Ighalo has not been seen in earnest since the turn of the year. Defeats against the likes of Swansea City and Southampton have left a feeling of discontent around Vicarage Road.

That being said, Flores' Hornets sit in 10th place, a highly respectable position when you consider the pre-season expectations that surrounded the club. In recent weeks, Watford have also managed to hold Chelsea to a goalless draw and were only narrowly beaten 1-0 by a Tottenham Hotspur side looking to make a charge at winning the title this time around.

Against an out of form Palace, Watford will definitely consider all three points a must on Saturday - both in order to get ever closer to that vital 40-point safety mark, and to give the travelling fans something to cheer about.

Dropping out the sky

Alan Pardew's Eagles, on the other hand, might also just fancy their chances. True, Palace are struggling too - also with just the one win in their last eight league fixtures - but at home, against an out of form Watford, they will feel this game is theirs for the taking.

It seems odd to say this after Palace's assault on the European places earlier this season, but their inability to pick up points of late has seen the Eagles suffer an alarming drop. Incredibly, Palace are now in 12th place - one point behind Flores' Watford.

So it is a battle of two teams struggling for form, but this Saturday's fixture at Selhurst Park promises to be an intriguing and competitive affair. Both teams can play good football when confident, and either side will fancy their chances of picking up all three points.

Whether Watford or Palace will throw off the shackles that have left them stuttering of late remains to be seen, but it might just be worth tuning in to find out.
