Premiership:

Inverness Caledonian Thistle defeated Celtic on Saturday afternoon to remain top of the Premiership table. An own goal from Hoops youngster Eoghan O'Connell was the difference maker as Caley won 1-0.

Ryan Christie squandered a great chance for the hosts late on, but in the end it didn't really matter. Nir Biton came closest for Celtic when he hit the bar from distance.

Celtic boss Ronny Deila made no fewer than 10 changes to his squad before the match. The Norwegian was most likely keeping one eye on Tuesday's Champions League Qualifier at home to Slovenian outfit Maribor.

It was late goals galore across the Premiership this weekend, but none more exciting than the three scored at Firhill in the match between Partick Thistle and Hamilton Accies.

The match was wide open but looked as though it finish goalless; that was until Kallum Higginbotham opened the scoring for Partick Thistle with an early contender for goal of the season when he chested down a high ball before unleashing a long range volley into the top corner of Michael McGovern's net.

Tony Andreu burst through the Jags defence and fired home only two minutes later to equalise for the Accies, but the action didn't end there.

Jason Scotland sealed the three points for Alex Neil and his men in stoppage time when he latched onto a long ball before coolly finishing past Paul Gallagher

Hamilton, tipped as favourites for the drop before the season, have now taken 9 points from a possible 12, a wonderful start to life in the Premiership for the Lanarkshire club.

Dundee left it late to claim a win in Paisley, as they beat a St. Mirren side who are yet to get off the mark. Peter MacDonald scored the game's only goal in the 80th minute, leaving the Buddies waiting for their first points of the season.

St. Johnstone also scored a goal at the death to defeat Aberdeen by the same scoreline at McDiarmid Park. Steven MacLean scoring for the Saintees in their second win of the season. Aberdeen now lie in 9th place with only 3 points.

Another side who haven't begun the season as well as they would have liked are Motherwell, who lost 2-0 in Kilmarnock, leaving them one place behind the Dons in the table with the same number of points.

Robbie Muirhead opened the scoring within 9 minutes with a powerful strike from just outside the area. Fraser Kerr saw red in a bad day at the office for the Steelmen, after a dangerous challenge on Rory McKenzie going in with his studs showing.

Sammy Clingan proceeded to take the resulting costless kick on the edge of the Motherwell box and dispatched it low into the back post to give Killie the victory.

Dundee United bounced back from last week's hammering defeat at Celtic by beating Ross County 2-1 at Tannadice. Nadir Ciftci opened the scoring for the Arabs with a looping header over Antonio Reguero.

Jake Jervis restored parity early in the second half, as the Staggies, too, looked for their first points of the campaign.

United pressed for a winner, but for Reguero in net for Ross County it could have been a cricket score. They eventually got their reward with yet another late goal, this one coming from Chris Erskine with his second of the season.
