1.Tim Howard (USA) : Howard had the best goalkeeping performance of the tournament and such a performance is unlikely to be beaten. Despite conceding twice, Howard was phenomenal and was the main reason the US took it to extra time. He looked unbeatable and was saving the ball with everything in his anatomy. Over the course of the 120 minutes, Howard made a mind boggling 15 saves. All of which were important in their own different way, as well as 1 cross claim. Howard now enters the record books after breaking the record for most saves in a single world cup game.

2. Kevin De Bruyne (Belgium) : De Bruyne comes a very close second after an excellent game. De Bruyne saw half a century of passes reach intended targets, as well as 3 crosses and 2 corners. Despite De Bruyne playing far up the field, he contributed largely on the defensive front. He managed 5 tackles, a clearance and 4 interceptions. The red haired midfielder also won one take-on and once in the air.

3. Ricardo Rodriguez (Switzerland) : Rodriguez continued with his excellent form by putting in another stellar performance. Rodriguez was an ever-running engine, who was up and down the pitch a ridiculous number of times. During his ventures up field, he won 4 of his 5 take-on attempts while having a successful cross and a corner too. Defensively, Rodriguez excelled once again. With 6 tackles, 4 interceptions, 7 clearances and 100% win accuracy in the air.

4. Lionel Messi (Argentina) : Messi was the star of the show for Argentina. Messi won 7 of his 11 take-on attempts, hurdling numerous slide tackles and getting out of many tricky situations with his 7 mesmerising dribbles. He completed 36 passes including assisting Di Maria, which proved to be the winner. He had 3 successful corners and crosses as well as making 4 successful tackles.

5. Omar Gonzalez (USA) : Gonzalez was a rock at the back and couldn't have done much in preventing either of Belgium's goals. Gonzalez misplaced just 7 of his 59 pass attempts, all of which were of varying ranges. Gonzalez had 3 tackles, a gigantic tournament high 20 clearances and 4 interceptions. The near two-metre tall defender also won 3 times in the air and finished just shy of a century of touches.
