The groups for the 2014/15 Champions League were drawn on Thursday in Monaco, setting up a few mouth-watering matchups. The groups are as follows,

Group A: Atlético Madrid, Juventus, Olympiacos and Malmö.
Group B: Real Madrid, Basel, Liverpool and Ludogorets.
Group C: Benfica, Zenit, Bayer Leverkusen and Monaco.
Group D: Arsenal, Dortmund, Galatasaray and Anderlecht.
Group E: Bayern Munich, Man City, CSKA Moscow and AS Roma.
Group F: Barcelona, PSG, Ajax and APOEL.
Group G: Chelsea, Schalke, Sporting and Maribor.
Group H: Porto, Shakhtar Donetsk, Athletic Club, BATE.

In every Champions League draw, there seems to be a group of death and Group E may be the best candidate for that title. Man City and Bayern Munich will face off for the second season in a row while Roma make their return to Champions League football. CSKA Moscow are not a team to be taken light so it will be exciting to see how this group ends up.  Group F is another that catches the eyes with Dutch giants Ajax, 2009 winners Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. Perhaps the most exciting matchup in the group stages will be Barcelona - PSG, two of the richest clubs in modern football.

The current champions, Real Madrid, were grouped alongside one of Europe's most prestigious clubs, Liverpool, who return to the competition for the first time in 5 years. Elsewhere, Chelsea found themselves in a relatively straight forward group and Arsenal were drawn next to Dortmund, a team they've become accustomed to in recent years. Last year’s finalists Atlético Madrid will have to deal with Serie A champions Juventus, as well as Olympiacos and Malmö.

The draw not only gives us the excitement of big clubs clashing in the early stages of the competition but also Champions League debutants, Ludogorets, facing last year's winners.
