Montenegro will host Sweden on Saturday, and both nations hope to climb to the top of Group G in the qualifying stages of the 2016 European Championships.

The hosts fell to their first defeat in the competition against Austria last month, courtesy of Rubin Okotie's first-half strike, following a dull 0-0 draw against Liechtenstein – a shock result for the nation ranked 112 places below Branko Brnović’s side.

Following from an expected 2-0 victory over Moldova to commence their qualifying campaign, Montenegro will now face their biggest test to date against Sweden, with a tie against Russia also looming.

Nevertheless, the visitors are also yet to impress with their performances, securing a 2-0 draw against Liechtenstein, after 1-1 draws against both Austria and Russia, the top two teams in Group G with seven and five points respectively.

Sweden currently sit in third on equal points with Fabio Capello’s Russia, but are weakened by a goal difference of just two. Illustrious striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is yet to find the net in qualifying, with Erkan Zengin adding two to his tally, as both Ola Toivonen and Jimmy Durmaz scored one apiece.

With Ibrahimovic absent for the opening fixtures, he has caused controversy within the Swedish camp following his criticism of Celtic’s John Guidetti.

The clash with Montenegro will be the first time Guidetti and Ibrahimovic have shared a dressing room since the Paris-Saint Germain striker disparaged his attacking partner for his cockiness in public, despite his failure to live up to expectations on the pitch.

Ibrahimovic also openly criticised the 22-year-old two years ago during his first-team debut, but Guidetti has spoken out and accepts the comments. He said:

“I do not know exactly what was said and written but I did need to perform on the field and to be part of a team. For that he was right.

“Since I’ve been here, I have said hello and he said hello. We’re all friends here, we are all in the same team and all have the same goal.

“I’m not thinking so much about playing in the team because I’m just trying to play well for Celtic and then anything is a bonus.

“I went to Stoke last year to play but it’s hard to score off the bench, I think no one can do it, not even Lionel Messi.

“It takes time to get back to feeling really good after so long away. I did not play that much then. It’s fun to play football and I get to do that at Celtic.”

Having recently celebrated his 50th national team goal in 100 appearances, Ibrahimovic will hope he can be the talisman to his side’s expected victory at the Podgorica City Stadium on Saturday.
