The Madrid Derby will headline the Champions League quarter-final, with Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid lining up against local rivals Real Madrid.

Facing Spanish league leaders Barcelona in El Clasico in just two days’ time, Carlo Ancelotti’s side will now also face their local rivals in the coming weeks – who last secured a monumental 4-0 victory at Vicente Calderon back in February.

Simeone’s side scraped in the last eight following a 1-1 aggregate draw with Bayer Leverkusen, requiring penalties to be drawn with the reigning holders. Their opponents were also almost hindered by their German opponents, beating FC Schalke 04 in a nine goal aggregate thriller. Despite a 4-3 defeat in the second leg, Ronaldo and co. did enough to secure an overall 5-4 victory.

French giants Paris Saint-Germain kicked off the draw for the last eight held in Nyon, Switzerland. After seeing off English outfit Chelsea, courtesy of the controversial away goals ruling, they will face Barcelona – who handed England’s last remaining club their fate, a 3-1 aggregate knocking Manchester City out of the prestigious tournament.

Porto, who are now considered as the underdogs of the tournament, have drawn German league leaders Bayern Munich – who will be remembered for their 7-1 aggregate demolition of Barcelona back in 2013. Julen Lopetegui’s side cruised into the last eight with a 4-0 win in their second leg over FC Basel, concluding an impressive 5-1 victory over the two legs. However, they now face their toughest task yet, after Bayern Munich knocked seven past a ten-man Shakhtar Donetsk.

Juventus were the penultimate team to be drawn for the ties, having overcome Borussia Dortmund in both legs to secure a 5-1 aggregate victory against the league strugglers. They will face Monaco, who qualified on away goals after a nerve-wracking 3-3 defeat with Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal.

The ties for the last eight are to be played on April 14-15 and April 21-22.
