Thiago Motta and Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain have silenced all transfer rumors surrounding the Brazilian defensive midfielder. The two sides put pen to paper on a one-year contract extension to silence speculation on Motta's football future.

PSG reportedly had received offers for the purchase of Motta from several clubs, notably the Premier League's Arsenal and Liverpool, as well as his former clubs Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan

A veteran presence for the Ligue 1 giants

At the age of 33, the 6-foot-2 holding midfielder's veteran presence in the dressing room has aided PSG in winning three straight Ligue 1 titles since club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi joined the French club at the start of 2012.

"Since the start of this season, he has once again proved what an important element he remains in our playing system. Over the past few years, his immense experience has been crucial in the team's progress," said Al-Khelaifi.

The present, who reportedly shares a strong relationship with Motta, continued "His experience in the Champions League, which he has already won twice, will once again be integral to the club's ambitions to take the next step in Europe."

"For me, there was never any question of letting such a great player leave the club."

Motta's long and illustrious football career will stay at the Parc des Princes through June 30, 2017. He has scored six goals in 85 league appearances for PSG, showing great ball control and pitch vision through the process.

The Brazilian-born international has had stints with the Italian national team, it being his primary FIFA nationality (his grandfather was Italian), and made an appearance as a substitute in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in a 2-1 group stage victory over England.

PSG set for a future of more goals, transfers, and league titles

While Motta will stay at PSG and continue holding down the midfield fort for the French giants, plenty of other pieces are sure to move by the time the transfer deadline rolls around.

PSG are set to play AS Monaco on Sunday, and recently were revealed to be in Group A of the 2015-16 UEFA Champions League along with La Liga power Real Madrid.
