Barcelona’s Arda Turan can forget about last season's woes as head will lead Turkey into the European Championships this summer in France.

The 29-year-old will captain his nation after making 25 appearances for the Catalan side this season, however, the first six-months were missed due to the FIFA transfer ban imposed on the club.

Turan scored twice and claimed four assists, but only managed one half of football in the final four games of the season, but he will, once again, provide an attacking threat for Turkey at Euro 2016.

Youngster named among 23-man squad

The Crescent-Stars have names 18-year-old talented midfielder Emre Mor, who has been deemed as the next big talent, in their European Championship squad.

The youngster, who ply’s his trade for Nordsjaelland in the Danish league, made his debut against Montenegro recently, but represented Denmark at youth level.

Along with Turan, Bayer Leverkusen’s Hakan Calhanoglu and Beijing striker Burak Yilmaz, formerly of Galatasaray, will likely be key to Turkey’s success this summer.

Talented squad could cause an upset

Just six of the 23-man squad play outside of Turkey’s top league, six of which play for Fenerbahce, four from league champions Besiktas and three from Galatasaray.

The attackers include Olcan Sahin and Cenk Tosun from Besiktas, but more notably in midfield is the highest Turkish goalscorer in the Super Lig, Selcuk Inan, who found the net 11 times last season with Galatasaray.

Nuri Sahin of Borussia Dortmund is another name that many will recognise, but talent runs deep within this Turkish side, and they have the potential to go and progress out of their group and into the knockout stages.

Defenders Ismail Koybasi, Gokhan Gonul, Ahmet Yilmaz Cail and Semih Kaya all had successful seasons with their respected sides and will look to stand strong at the back.
