He may not be a name on everyone's lips but I have no doubts that this Romanian talent can continue to set Europe a light with his power and energy in an ever improving Stuttgart side. The player in question is obviously 23 year old, Romanian international Alexandru Maxim.
The midfielder hasn't been in the Bundesliga for a year yet but is already one of the most creative midfielders in a league with the best of the best attacking midfielders including, Mkhitaryan, Kroos and Reus. After a 1.5 million move to the Bundesliga from Romanian side Pandurii last January it didn't take long for the exciting talent to settle into German football and the demands Bundesliga has.
Alexandru Maxim played 11 games in the remaining of the season for 12th place Stuttgart. In his 11 appearances he managed scoring once with an 85% passing accuracy and creating 2.5 goalscoring chances in a game. Exceptional.
This season Alexandru Maxim has come on leaps and bounds, and has been one of the star performers in the German league. Playing 12 games this season the clever midfielder managed to get himself 4 goals in the league and has managed to create 28 goal scoring chances in that time. Although his passing has fallen down to 78% accuracy it is due to him playing more advanced and a lot of his passes coming from the final third.
Defensively Maxim can put a foot in, winning 50% of his duels this season and 60% of his duels last season. I would compare Maxim to Lewis Holtby, now of Spurs but formerly of Bundesliga side Schalke. The Romanian can play behind the striker in the number 10 role, where we've seen the dynamic player play most recently. But the indefatigable central player can play equally as well in a 3 man midfield as one of the on runners providing an attacking presents in the midfield battle.
Plenty of Premier League sides would take the risk on Alexandru Maxim, his standard of play could see himself get into most teams in the league. The Summer will be even more interesting for the Romanian as January may be a bit too soon for the on form man to make a big money move to England.
