FC Augsburg have won their last four home matches against mid-table teams. A win could take them sixth in the Bundesliga.

Hannover have never lost a competitive match against FC Augsburg. A win could take them above tenth place Hoffenheim also a win could put them at least five points ahead of the relegation zone.

Augsburg had the first chances of the match. Andre Hahn forced Robert Zieler to tip his shot over the bar. Another chance for Hahn, but this time his header wasn’t troubling Robert Zieler.

Hannover fought back with attacks of their own. Rudnev put through on goal but Manninger made a good save. From the resulting corner a deflection fell to Manuel Schmiedebach who then found Mame Biram Diouf, his shot trickles past Alex Manninger off the post into the bottom corner to put Hannover infront.

A counter attack the ball played to Halil Altintop, he cut inside on his right foot but his shot went wide.

Looking to double their lead Hannover had a costless kick at the edge of the centre circle, the cross fell to Mame Biram Diouf but his header wide of the mark. Piling on more pressure on the Augsburg’s defence, Lars Stindl’s shot from range, over the bar, to the delight of the home fans. Another chance from Lars Stindl his shot agonizingly close to making it 2-0.

Looking for the important equaliser, Ausgburg crossed to the backpost to Halil Altintop but his volley wide of the mark.

Costless kick to Hannover but the attempt was poor and rolled miles wide, a story of the first half from both sides.

Half Time and Hannover went in at the break 1-0 away from home.

After the restart Augsburg started the brighter of the two sides. Ron-Robert Zieler made a remarkable save from Tobias Werner’s shot. Good wing play by Augsburg, Andre Hahn’s volley well saved again from Ron-Robert Zieler. Jeong Ho Hong got on the wrong side of his maker but his header went wide.

On fifty-five minutes Augsburg’s pressure finally paid dividens when a corner, the head of Ragnar Klavan met the cross and his header crept just under the crossbar 1-1. They finally get the equaliser after inflicting heavy pressure on the Hannover defence.

After a defence mistake from Hannover the ball fell to Tobias Werner his shot right at Ron-Robert Zieler, the danger was cleared. Good build up play from Augsburg but Kevin Vogt’s shot flew over the bar.

Hannover had chances to steal an away win, but Mame Biram Diouf failed get on the end of a wonderful cross from out wide. A golden opportunity missed by the away side.

The draw for FC Augsburg means they drop down to ninth level on points with Hertha BSC and just six points off the Champions League places.
