Bayern Munich's 53-game unbeaten run came to an end in matchday 29 to the hands of FC Augsburg. Whilst at the bottom of the table everything was still to play for as Eintracht Braunschweig beat Lower-Saxony rivals Hannover 96 3-0 which leaves them only one point behind Nürnberg in seventeenth. With just five games left there is everything left to play for with Braunschweig traveling to Freiburg at the bottom end of the table and teams pushing for Europe against teams battling relegation.

Schalke v Eintracht Frankfurt

Schalke looked as thought they were going to finish the season strong and push for the runners-up spot against rivals Borussia Dortmund. However, a draw away at Werder Bremen last weekend now sees The Royal Blues three points behind their rivals.

The visitors to the Veltins Arena this weekend are Eintracht Frankfurt, coming in to the game on a back of a 2-0 win over Mainz 05. The away side are not in any real danger of relegation whilst they are also very unlikely to push for any European spot.

Head to Head

  • 23rd November '13 - Frankfurt 3 - 3 Schalke
  • 20th April '13 - Frankfurt 1 - 0 Schalke
  • 24th November '12 - Schalke 1 - 1 Frankfurt

Borussia Mönchengladbach v VfB Stuttgart

Borussia Mönchengladbach moved in to the Champions League spot in matchday 29 with a 2-0 win over relegation threatened Nürnberg and with Bayer Leverkusen losing to the hands of Hamburg. Die Fohlen head in to the game in some good form, winning four out of five scoring ten goals in the process.

Stuttgart on the other hand find themselves still fighting relegation despite winning 2-0 at home to Freiburg. Three of the bottom four teams won in matchday 29 and none of them seem to be able to pull away from the pack.

  • 22nd November '13 - Stuttgart 0 - 2 Borussia Mönchengladbach
  • 14th April '13 - Stuttgart 2 - 0 Borussia Mönchengladbach
  • 17th November '12 - Borussia Mönchengladbach 1 - 2 Stuttgart

Hannover 96 v Hamburg

Die Roten find themselves sixteenth in the Bundesliga form table, going four games without a win and previously losing to fierce rivals Braunschweig at the weekend which was marred with trouble when Braunschweig fans tied up a dead goat at their training ground. André Hoffmann will also miss the rest of the season after he was given a five-game suspension.

On the other side, Hamburg are unpredictable in recent games, winning 2-1 against Bayer Leverkusen with a beautifully taken goal from Hakan Calhanoglu before Heiko Westermann sealed all three points.

  • 24th November '13 - Hamburg 3 - 1 Hannover
  • 23rd February '13 - Hannover 5 - 1 Hamburg
  • 29th September '12 - Hamburg 1 - 0 Hannover

VfL Wolfsburg v Nürnberg

Wolfsburg are hoping for a strong end to their season, they are only one point behind fourth place Leverkusen and a European place would do the wonders for the Wolves. Despite losing to Borussia Dortmund they played extremely well and if they play like that against Nürnberg then chances are they will collect all three points.

The visitors are in real danger of the drop and it really would take something special for them to beat it now. Josip Drmic's goals alone won't save them and the team need to pull something out of the bag against Wolfsburg which is highly unlikely.

  • 23rd November '13 - Nürnberg 1 - 1 Wolfsburg
  • 31st March '13 - Wolfsburg 2 - 2 Nürnberg
  • 3rd November '12 - Nürnberg 1 - 0 Wolfsburg

Freiburg v Eintracht Braunschweig

The home side saw their four game unbeaten come to and end when they lost 2-0 to Stuttgart. That loss leaves them down in fourteenth, only two points ahead of Stuttgart and Hamburg, so they are not quite out of it just yet.

Opponents Braunschweig are unbeaten in three and are looking very determined to finally move off the foot of the table. They beat Hannover at the weekend and it looks like that team has a sense of unity about them, although they still have to travel to Bayern Munich. You feel that this is a must win game if they really want to survive.

  • 23rd November '13 - Braunschweig 0 - 1 Freiburg
  • 30th October '12 - Braunschweig 0 - 2 Freiburg

Mainz 05 v Werder Bremen

Whilst a win for Mainz 05 in unlikely to take them into sixth due to goal difference, they provide a real threat to both Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen in that push for Europe. However they have only won one in four games and last time out they lost 2-0 to Frankfurt.

Bremen you would think are in no threat of relegation, four points behind Hannover with five games left to play. They travel to Mainz on the back of a draw against Schalke and look to have improved in the closing stages of the season.

  • 24th November '13 - Bremen 2 - 3 Mainz
  • 30th March '13 - Mainz 1 - 1 Bremen
  • 4th November '12 - Bremen 2 - 1 Mainz

Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund

The Bavarian club came in for some criticism throughout the week after Pep Guardiola fielded a weakened team against Augsburg as Sascha Molders ended unbeaten streak. Bayern did get back on track after coming back from 1-0 down to beat Manchester United 3-1 and qualify for the Champions League semi-finals, where they'll face Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, Dortmund will be wanting to get one over Bayern, not only to get revenge for the 3-0 loss in the Hinrunde, but they will want to extended the gap between themselves and their rivals Schalke. BVB travel to Munich off the back of a 2-0 win against Real Madrid, but also beating Wolfsburg 2-1.

  • 23rd November '13 - Borussia Dortmund 0 - 3 Bayern Munich
  • 27th July '13 - Borussia Dortmund 4 - 2 Bayern Munich
  • 4th May '13 - Borussia Dortmund 1 - 1 Bayern Munich

Bayer Leverkusen v Hertha Berlin

Neither team go into this game in a good run of form, Leverkusen traveled to Hamburg on Sunday and came off 2-1 losers which resulted in manager Sami Hyypia being sacked and replaced by Sascha Lewandowski until the end of the season.

Whilst the club from Berlin are bottom of the form table, not winning in seven games. Their last win came away at Stuttgart towards the end of February and have since only gone on to score three goals. Colombian striker Adrian Ramos has also announced to join Dortmund in the summer for a fee believed to be around €11 million.

  • 23rd November '13 - Hertha BSC 0 - 1 Bayer Leverkusen
  • 14th April '12 - Bayer Leverkusen 3 - 3 Hertha BSC
  • 26th November '11 - Hertha BSC 3 - 3 Bayer Leverkusen

Hoffenheim v Augsburg

The final game of matchday 30 sees Augsburg travel to Hoffenheim, the home side are unbeaten in four games and face Augsburg on the back of two draws against Hertha BSC and Bayern Munich.

The away side had a boost of morale as they beat champions Bayern Munich as they find themselves one place and five points above Hoffenheim in eighth place as they look to push for that sixth place and Europa League.

  • 23rd November '13 - Augsburg 2 - 0 Hoffenheim
  • 23rd February '13 - Augsburg 2 - 1 Hoffenheim
